Our Story

Get to know more about what makes us different.

"And there went with him a band of men, whose hearts God had touched." 1 Samuel 10:26

Pine Forest Assembly of God Church was founded in 1976, by Rev. John Sowell.  It all started in a little wood house.  Before they knew it, they were busting at the seams.  In 1978, services were held in the new chapel, later named the J. E. Kyser Hall, in honor of "Ole Earl" Kyser.  Construction began on an even larger sanctuary and it became the new home in 1984.
In 1991, Rev. John Sowell retired and Rev. Gene Hudson was elected Pastor.  Pastor Hudson continues his ministry, as only the second pastor of Pine Forest Assembly in 48 years! God continued to move and grow Pine Forest Assembly to the point of expanding what is now lovingly referred to as the J. W. Sowell Building in 2000.  In 2004, God blessed us with the construction of a gym to further reach our community.
We thought we knew what the plan was, but God wasn't finished just yet!  After multiple  catastrophes (we thought), Hurricane Ivan and a fire that destroyed Kyser Hall, we pressed on stronger than ever and completely debt free!

In 2021, the Board of Deacons voted unanimously to name the gym, F. E. Hudson Hall, in honor of Pastor Hudson's 30 years of continuous ministry at Pine Forest Assembly.
We continue to experience growing pains and deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Sally (2020), but with God on our side, we can NEVER lose!
It is our never ending goal to reach our community and the world for Christ!  Whether that be through weekly services, community outreach, yard sales, or sending missionaries around the globe.
We would love to have you join us in the fight!

"Press toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."  Philippians 3:14
